Engineering

Software Engineer, Mid-level

Own a whole area of the product, such as the interview room or the grader, from design to production.

About getInterviewed

getInterviewed runs realistic mock technical interviews with an AI interviewer. Candidates, from students to staff engineers, practice Coding, System design and Behavioral rounds by voice or text, with an interviewer that listens, probes and hints the way a good one does. Then they get an honest, level-calibrated report on whether they’d pass, and what to fix.

We’re a small, fully remote team. We build the whole product ourselves, and we hold it to the bar of the best software we use.

About the role

You’ll own large parts of a product that candidates trust with an hour of their time and an honest verdict on their chances. That means the decisions as well as the code: what to build, how simply it can be built, and when it’s good enough to ship.

This role is for an engineer who has shipped production systems, cares how the product feels as much as how it’s built, and wants the scope that only a small team can offer.

What you’ll do

  • Own an area end to end, such as the interview room, the interviewer or the grader, from design to production
  • Design APIs and schemas we’d be happy to make public, and keep the code base simple as it grows
  • Measure the interviewer’s quality and cost per interview, and move both in the right direction
  • Run what you ship: deploys, observability, and the incident when something breaks
  • Raise the bar for everyone through review, writing and example

What you’ll need

  • Three to seven years building production software
  • Strong TypeScript and React, and Python or another backend language
  • Systems you designed and ran with real users, including what broke and what you changed
  • Sound product and UX judgment, not only engineering judgment
  • Clear writing in English; decisions here are made in writing

Nice to have

  • Production experience with LLMs: prompts, tools, evaluations
  • Real-time or voice systems, such as WebRTC or streaming audio
  • Postgres at depth: query plans, migrations without downtime

What we offer

  • Work from anywhere

Fully remote, in any country. We write things down so nobody has to be in the same room.

  • Flexible hours

Work when you do your best work. Most of our work is asynchronous, with a few hours of overlap for calls.

  • Equity

Stock options in the company, so you share in what you help build.

  • Your setup

A laptop and the equipment you need to do your best work, paid for by us.

  • Learning budget

Books, courses and conferences that make you better at the job.

  • Real ownership

A small team means the area you own is really yours, and your work reaches candidates the week you ship it.

We’ll talk about salary on our first call.

How we hire

  1. 1

    Apply

Email your resume and a link to something you built and are proud of, with a few lines on why it’s good.

  2. 2

    A call with a founder

Thirty minutes on what you’ve built, what you want next, and the role, including pay.

  3. 3

    A technical interview

A problem close to our real work, solved together, with the tools you’d use on the job.

  4. 4

    A decision

Within a week of your last conversation, with our reasons either way.
